Hotham Valley Railway – Ride the Trains -2nd and /or 3rd August 2025

General Info:

Come for the day or stay at the Dwellingup Chalet and Caravan Park for the Weekend and Enjoy a fun weekend riding the Hotham Valley Trains.

Trip Bookings must be made by the 30th JUNE!- for booking purposes, The Club will book the Train Tickets so we are all able to sit in the same carriage. You will be invoiced for the Train Tickets by the club. The Hotham Valley donot give refunds  or credits so Tickets are not refundable but you may transfer your ticket to another person who is able to travel on that day. If you choose to book your own train tickets you probably won't be sitting with the club group. It is a very popular activity and tickets often sell out.

Saturday: The Dwellingup Forest Train to Etmilyn.

Meet at the Hotham Valley Railway at 1:15pm

We will be taking the 2pm Forest Train, a diesel Train. to Etmilyn through the lovely Jarrah Forests.

From the moment you arrive at Dwellingup Station, you'll sense you're about to embark on a journey with a difference. The historic Dwellingup Forest Train will take you 8 Kilometers eastward from Dwellingup to Etmilyn, along the state's last surviving lightly built developmental railway. 

At the end of the line there is a 20-25 minute walk trail through the beautiful plant life and seasonal wildflowers of the rare Jarrah Forest.

The Forest Train is a 95 minute journey in total.

Adults: $35 ( cost is inclusive of all Booking Fees)

Children: $19 ( 2-15 years)

Sunday: The Dwellingup Steam Ranger, 

Meet at the Hotham valley Railway, Dwellingup at 9:45am

Costs: ( inclusive of all booking fees)

Adults: $ $49

Children $$24 (2-15 yrs)

Train Journey is 2 hours.

Upon departing Dwellingup the pace is leisurely as the train rolls along westward, down to Isandra Siding, 14kms away. Once there, the locomotive will move to the opposite end of the train during the 20 minute stopover and make ready for the return.
 
On the return journey, you will thrill to the magnificent sights and sounds of a Steam Locomotive hard at work climbing Western Australia's steepest and most spectacular section of railway, through the Darling Range Escarpment as the train returns you to Dwellingup.

Travel along an amazing portion of steeply graded and tightly curved railway manually carved into the Darling Range, which once so masterfully served the timber industry and the agricultural areas of Dwellingup and beyond.

Make a Weekend of it.- Some of us will be making a weekend of it and staying at the Dwellingup Chalet and Caravan Park which has lovely bush sites or cabin style accommodation. If you wish to stay please arrange your own accommodation bookings there is a variety of options at the caravan park and in the local area. 

For those staying there is the option of Tea at the Dwellingup Tavern or at a local restaurant on Saturday Night.
